Telemundo names Suárez GM of former Serestar stations

Jose Suarez

The Telemundo Station Group has named José Alberto Suárez president and general manager of its recently acquired stations in Sacramento (KCSO) and Salt Lake City (KULX) from Serestar Communications. He’ll also lead the Telemundo-owned Fresno (KNSO) station.

Suárez, who holds the same position at KVDA Telemundo 60 since January 2016, will relocate to Sacramento and take over his new role on April 29.

He’ll continue to report to TSG President Manuel Martínez.

During his time at Telemundo 60, Suárez has led the expansion of the station’s digital platforms and launched new local weekday and weekend newscasts.

Before his move to San Antonio, Suárez spent 10 years at NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 in Miami in various roles with increasing responsibility, including director of creative services and local programming, executive producer and director of digital platforms.

Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Suárez was news director at WUPW Fox Toledo.

Telemundo completed its acquisition of the full power, Class A and low power television stations in Sacramento and Salt Lake City in early March.

The company also terminated the joint sales and time brokerage agreement that allowed Serestar to operate KNSO, the Telemundo-owned station in the Fresno market.
