Telemundo adds Venegas as network correspondent, confirms Amezola hire

Guadalupe Venegas is leaving the anchor desk at Telemundo San Diego to become network correspondent, covering the California region.

He’ll be based in San Francisco. He steps into the position left vacant by Cristina Londoño, who moved to Washington, D.C. to replace Lori Montenegro as network senior correspondent in the nation’s capital.

He starts the new role in June.

Venegas has been at Telemundo San Diego since 2017, when the company launched its inaugural newscast after severing the affiliate agreement with Entravision. He previously worked as a reporter for Univision’s “Aquí y Ahora,” as well as several Telemundo shows, including “Al Rojo Vivo” and “Noticias Telemundo.”

In addition to Venegas’ promotion, Telemundo today confirmed Karla Amezola’s hire as a full-time, Miami-based network correspondent. Media Moves previously reported Amezola’s hire in late April.

Amezola was most recently a Los Angeles-based freelance correspondent for Noticias Telemundo. She previously spent six years as reporter and anchor for Estrella TV’s Noticias 62.
