Marissa Parra

Parra lands reporting job at CBS Chicago

September 11, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe

Marissa Parra is starting a new job as reporter for CBS Chicago.

Her first day is Monday, September 16.

She arrives to the Windy City from Washington, D.C., where she was a freelance producer with ABC News, working primarily for “Good Morning America.”

The new gig marks her return to news reporting after spending almost two years as a producer.

“My time behind the scenes was always temporary – in fact I thought it would only last a couple of months! But I promised myself I would wait however long it took to find a station I believed in and a city I could grow in. On some days my patience was tested… but I never stopped grinding and I never gave up hope that the unicorn existed and guys – I found it,” Parra shared in a Facebook post.

Parra previously worked as reporter and fill-in anchor for WSET-TV, the ABC affiliate in Lynchburg, VA from 2015 to 2017.

She got her start in the business as a video editor for WUSA 9, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C.
