Telemundo 51’s Carballo expands duties to lead WTVJ

November 14, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe Leave a Comment

WSCV Telemundo 51’s President and General Manager Jorge Carballo will expand his management responsibilities to oversee operations for NBC 6/WTVJ, effective January 1, 2020.

In his expanded role, Carballo will manage all station operations including WTVJ and WSCV news departments, digital, sales, marketing/promotions, community affairs, and operations/technology teams.

He will report to Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

NBCUniversal chose Carballo to lead both stations, replacing NBC6 President and GM Larry Olevitch who is retiring at the end of this year.

Carballo’s career spans more than 30 years in Miami TV and radio newsrooms, including 26 years at WSCV in both sales and station management roles.

He was named GM at the Telemundo O&O in 2012.
