Diaz moves to the New York Times

December 3, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe

Johnny Diaz has moved to New York City to start a new job as breaking news reporter on the New York Times’ Express Desk.

He most recently spent seven and a half years at the South Florida Sun Sentinel, where he was a viral news and features reporter.

Before that, he was a staff writer at The Boston Globe from 2002 to 2012.

He got his start in journalism at 16, interning at The Miami Herald while in high school and later, as a student at Florida International University. The Herald hired him as a reporter right out of college.

Diaz is the author of six novels and the long-running blog beantowncuban.com.
