Jorge Estevez

Estevez leaves WFTV for anchor job at WSB

December 4, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe

Anchor Jorge Estevez is leaving WFTV, the Orlando station where he has worked for the past eight years, for a new opportunity at Atlanta’s WSB.

“The opportunity in Atlanta is one I could not pass up. I will be joining the station’s evening anchor teams and will be working alongside yet another group of seasoned veterans,” Estevez tells Media Moves.

His last day at WFTV is December 20. He joins the Channel 2 Action News as evening anchor in January.

Both WFTV and WSB are Cox Media Group stations.

Estevez first arrived in Orlando in 2001 as a weekend anchor for ABC affiliate WFTV until 2006, when he moved to Miami’s WFOR-TV. He returned to WFTV in 2012.

He currently anchors Eyewitness News at 4 pm on WFTV with Vanessa Echols and Eyewitness News at 10 pm on WRDQ with Martha Sugalski.

Estevez landed his first broadcasting job as a reporter at News 12 The Bronx and in less than a year, was promoted to morning anchor.
