Telemundo 47 taps Oldenburg for VP News role

Freddy Oldenburg

Telemundo 47 has looked within the company’s station group for its next VP of News and zeroed in on Freddy Oldenburg.

Oldenburg, VP of News at Telemundo’s O&O in Dallas since 2017, will move to New York to take over as head of WNJU’s news operations, effective May 11.

Assistant News Director Alexa Rodriguez has been leading the newsroom on an interim basis since Endy Rodríguez’s exit in January.

Prior to his current role at KXTX Telemundo 39, Oldenburg was VP of News at KSTS Telemundo 48 in the San Francisco Bay Area and assistant news director at KVEA Telemundo 52 in Los Angeles.

He previously worked as an executive producer for Univision network in Miami.

Oldenburg launched his career in broadcasting as an anchor and reporter for RCTV in his native Venezuela.
