Telemundo Global Studios promotes Barroeta to EVP of Production; network hires Chagui

Karen Barroeta is being promoted to EVP of Production and Development at Telemundo Global Studios, effective July 6.

She’ll report directly to Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo Global Studios.

In this newly created role, Barroeta will be responsible for leading the development strategy of the studios, along with the management and execution of long-form scripted productions across all platforms. She’ll also oversee the alternative content team and identify projects for pilots, behind the scene productions and digital capsules.

Barroeta, who has been been with the company for two decades, was most recently SVP of Marketing and Creative at Telemundo, a position that will be filled with new hire Claudia Chagui, effective July 6.

She joins Telemundo after working as a creative and strategic marketing consultant for company-wide initiatives including the network’s overall rebrand, consumer marketing launch campaigns, and Upfront presentations.

In her new role, she’ll spearhead the strategic development and execution of all marketing and creative initiatives across the network, including entertainment, news and sports.

Chagui previously worked for Discovery Networks Latin America, where she held various executive roles including General Manager of Discovery’s Portfolio of Channels, Head of Content for Colombia and Andean region, Vice President of Sourcing & Acquisitions, Head of Digital Content and Vice President of Ad Sales Marketing, Production and Operations.
