Anchor Geno Perez is changing shifts and moving on to a bigger role at KAVU.

Geno Perez to take over as sports director at KAVU

July 24, 2020 by Veronica Villafañe

Anchor Geno Perez is changing shifts and moving on to a bigger role at KAVU. He’ll be taking over as Newscenter 25 sports director.

Currently an anchor at the station’s morning newscast, Perez will slide into the sports anchor seat weeknights at 6 and 10 pm, starting August 3.

He’ll also be the new host of “Friday Football Fever.”

Perez replaces Don Brubaker, who joined KAVU-TV’s sports department in 1984 and is moving to a new position as Newscenter 25’s main weeknight news anchor.

Perez arrived to the station in October 2019.
