NYT promotes Henríquez to editor, Newsroom Development and Support

New York Times management has promoted Charo Henríquez to a new leadership role. She’s now editor of Newsroom Development and Support, the team formerly known as Digital Transition.

In her new position, she’ll work more closely with product teams to develop “new embedded training approaches and expands newsroom support efforts.”

Henríquez was hired as the NYT’s Senior Editor of Digital Storytelling and Training in 2017. A year later, she was promoted to Senior Editor of Digital Strategy.

During her time at the NYT, she has worked in the rollouts of editing restructuring and the implementation of a new, visual-first content management system, used by the newsroom and the Opinion section. Most recently, she has been working closely with Newsroom Product and the Engagement mission teams to shape newsroom tools before they’re introduced to our journalists.

Before joining the NYT, she was the digital executive editor at People en Español. Prior to that, she worked at GFR Media, where she started her career as a business reporter, eventually stepping up to lead digital transformation efforts and product in the newsroom as innovation editor.
