Michelle Morgante

Morgante starts new job at INN

As of today, news vet Michelle Morgante is the Membership Director for the Institute for Nonprofit News.

In her new role, she’ll be in charge of facilitating connections among members and support almost 4,000 people working in INN member news organizations.

She’ll be focusing on mentoring programs, a member award program, regional gatherings and other network opportunities to spur growth and provide more resources for journalists leading this nonprofit news movement.

Morgante, who has nearly 30 years of experience in print, digital and broadcast journalism as a reporter, editor and manager, was most recently a public information officer at UC Merced. She previously spent two years as Deputy Managing Editor for National Public Radio.

Past positions include: Managing Editor of the The Merced Sun-Star and more than two decades with The Associated Press, where she was an editor and bureau chief, as well as a foreign correspondent.

She’ll be working remotely, based out of Merced, CA.
