Former CBS network anchor Maggie Rodríguez returns to morning TV

February 18, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe Leave a Comment

WFLA News Channel 8 has hired Maggie Rodríguez as co-host of Daytime!

She’ll join Danny New on the Tampa Bay station’s lifestyle weekday 10-11 am morning show, effective February 22, 2021.

Rodríguez has been off the air and a full time mom to her two children since she left CBS network a decade ago.

She co-anchored the The Early Show with Harry Smith from 2008 to 2010, when the network made talent changes to the national morning program.

Rodríguez has been living in Tampa for the past four years and was recently a guest-host on Daytime! earlier this year.

A Miami native, Rodríguez began her journalism career as a reporter for Univision 23 in 1989. She did the cross-over to the English-language market,as a reporter and anchor at KABC in Los Angeles, where she also co-hosted the lifestyle program, Eye on LA. She worked there from 1994 to 2000.

Rodríguez moved back home to become primary anchor at WFOR, the CBS O&O in Miami, before her jump to the network.
