Anne Vasquez named executive director of EdSource

Anne Vasquez has been named executive director of EdSource, a non-profit California multi-media education platform.

She steps into the new position on May 3, becoming the fourth executive director to lead the organization since it was founded 44 years ago.

Vasquez has been EdSource’s director of content and strategic initiatives for the past two years.

She was previously SVP of strategic initiatives and chief digital officer at Tribune Publishing. In that role, she led digital strategy across 10 markets, including the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Before that, she was managing editor of the Sun Sentinel.

Vasquez also worked at the San Jose Mercury News, where she covered education and became the editor of the paper’s race and demographic team.

She began her career as a reporter for the Miami Herald.
