Canela Media hires Torres, Palomares to lead music and sales divisions

May 27, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

Canela Media has hired Mario Torres as Director of Canela Music, a new division set to launch in the fall.

In this newly created role, Torres will oversee the development of Canela Music, which aims to bring content curated for U.S. Hispanic audiences across CTV and mobile.

Prior to joining Canela, Torres was VP of Business Development at Latido Music, where he spearheaded new content programming, brand awareness and enhanced the company’s music video catalog.

He previously developed and led SomosVevo, Vevo’s U.S. Hispanic-focused strategy, where he increased Latin artists featured in the platform, developed a social media presence using music videos as cultural highlights, and created new revenue streams.

Torres has also held positions at Univision, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and AOL.

Also brought Germán Palomares Salinas on board as Country Manager/VP of Sales in Mexico, where he will be in charge of leading Canela’s expansion into the country. He’ll report to Andrés Rincón, Canela Media’s SVP of Sales, USH East and LATAM.

Palomares arrives to Canela Media after having led Condé Nast’s digital revenues for Mexico and Latin America, where he was responsible for sales and digital transformation.

Prior to Condé Nast, he was in charge of the redesign and relaunch in Mexico for the Dutch media company Zoomin.TV, where oversaw all business relationships and operations in the country. Before that, he launched the Mexico office for mitú, the Los Angeles based Latino-focused digital media company.
