Univision brings Netflix exec Rodrigo Mazón on board to lead SVOD

June 23, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

Univision has hired Rodrigo Mazón as EVP & GM of SVOD.

He’ll be tasked with overseeing all aspects of a new global streaming service, scheduled to launch sometime in 2022, after the company’s merger with Televisa.

In this new role, he’ll be in charge of content and programming strategy, original content production, talent relations, content acquisitions from third-party producers and subscriber growth and retention.

He’ll be reporting directly to Pierluigi Gazzolo, President and Chief Transformation Officer at Univision.

Mazón arrives at Univision after six years at Netflix, where he was most recently VP of Content. He previously worked for Hulu as Director of Content Acquisition.

His appointment follows the recent addition of Michael Cerdá as EVP, Product and Engineering and Streaming, and Rafael Urbina as EVP & GM, AVOD Streaming.

You can read more details about Univision’s new streaming service, including content deals and an original premium slate on Forbes.
