Rafael Pérez-Narvaez named news director at Telemundo 49

July 28, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

WRMD Telemundo 49 has named Rafael Pérez-Narvaez news director for the Tampa station.

The appointment marks his promotion to top newsroom leadership within the Telemundo Station Group.

He takes over the role from Raiza Iciarte, who moved to Los Angeles as an executive producer for KVEA-52.

Pérez-Narvaez will be in charge of the overall operations and performance of the station’s newsroom, including news production across multiple media platforms.

His first day at Telemundo Tampa will be August 9.

Pérez-Narvaez arrives to the Florida station from Telemundo Boston, where he worked since 2017, starting as a senior producer. He was promoted to EP two years later and again in 2020 to assistant news director.

He started his career as a productions assistant at Univision in his native Puerto Rico, working his way up and criss-cross the country for positions at Univision Fresno, WAPA-TV and Entravision in Washington, D.C.
