Oscar Margáin returns to U.S. for job at NBC Boston

Oscar Margáin has started a new job as a general assignment reporter for NBC Boston.

He’ll be working Saturday through Wednesday and will also report for Telemundo Boston.

Margáin returns to the U.S. from China, where he spent the last two years working as a multimedia editor for China Media Group. He also freelanced for Univision, filing stories on the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting from Beijing.

Before moving to China, he worked as TEGNA’s southwest border correspondent from 2016 to 2019 based out of the KENS 5 San Antonio station in Texas, contributing to the company’s 50-plus news affiliates.

He previously worked in the Rio Grande Valley as as a bilingual MMJ and anchor for the KFXV Fox 2, Univision 48 and KTLM Telemundo 40 from 2013 to 2016. Before that, he was a photojournalist for KRGV-TV Channel 5 News.

Margáin is a native of Monterrey, Mexico.
