Univision inks deal with Selena Gomez to produce docuseries

December 7, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

Univision has signed a deal with singer and actress Selena Gomez to produce her first Spanish-language true crime docuseries for its new global streaming service, set to launch in 2022.

The three-part series is titled “Mi Vecino, El Cartel” follows the murder of Juan Guerrero Chapa, a former cartel lawyer and the subsequent multi-year international investigation and trial.

Univision has said it wants to capitalize on an underserved Spanish-language audience by producing quality Spanish-language content and investing in Latino storytellers and creators with its yet-to-launch streaming platform.
