KRGV’s Oscar Adame retires, Rudy Mireles takes over weekday anchor role

June 16, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

KRGV Channel 5 News anchor Oscar Adame has retired after 23 years at the station.

Adame started out as a reporter before moving to the weekend anchor desk, eventually taking over anchor duties for the 5, 6 and 10 pm weekday newscasts.

Prior to his TV career, he was a midday personality for KRGV Radio.

Another Rio Grande Valley native has replaced Adame.

Rudy Mireles, who joined the ABC affiliate in March 2020 as a reporter and was most recently weekend anchor, is now co-anchoring the 5 and 10 pm newscast with Kristine Galvan and the 6 pm newscast with Dina Herrera-Garza.
