Ashley Zavala has started a new job as California Capitol correspondent at KCRA, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in Sacramento.
She will be doing daily live reporting, covering politics and high-profile statewide elections in English and Spanish across KCRA 3, My58 and Estrella Sacramento.
Zavala most recently spent four years as State Capitol Bureau reporter for Nexstar’s California stations KRON4, FOX40, FOX 5 San Diego, KTLA5, KSEE24, CBS47 and KGET.
She started her career as a sports reporter and anchor at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked from 2010 to 2013. She would go on to work as a news and sports reporter at multiple outlets in Columbia before making her move to California.
An award-winning journalist, Zavala was recently elected president of the Capitol Correspondents Association and also sits on the Board of Directors for the Sacramento Press Club.
