TelevisaUnivision has laid off several top-level executives of its local media division across the country, including general managers and directors of sales.

So far, about 25 people were forced out of the company. One high-level insider says the terminations are “part of a larger management reduction in force.”

Another inside source tells Media Moves the changes “have to do with cost-cutting” and that the company is essentially doing a management reorganization of its local stations.

TelevisaUnivision has quietly been conducting the purge since September.

A company spokesperson refused to issue a statement about the layoffs or confirm a list of departed managers, stating “we do not comment on personnel matters.”

But sources have confirmed the names of some of the laid off executives. Others, have changed their Linkedin profiles to reflect they no longer work at TelevisaUnivision.

Among those who were given a pink slip is 20-year Univision veteran Luis Fernández-Rocha, who ended his run as President and Regional Manager at the end of October, posting this note on Linkedin:

“After 30 years as a General Manager, 20 of those with Univision, I have been able to accomplish many of my dreams and I’m convinced there are many more to come! Now I get to spend the next couple of months traveling the world, playing some golf, and spending even more quality time with my family, especially with my beautiful wife Lisette. I am looking forward to what the future will bring in 2023!!”

Doug Levy updated his Linkedin profile to “Former President & General Manager at TelevisaUnivision” and that he is “open to work.” Levy has worked at Univision Chicago for the past 26 years.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, Raul Rodríguez also changed his title to “Former President & General Manager.” He had been with the company for the past 11 years.

Levy and Rodríguez’s profiles show they left the company in October.

Media Moves has received names of other laid off executives, but has been unable to confirm their departures at this time.
