Anchor Wayne Garcia retires from KPTV

April 26, 2023 by Veronica Villafañe

Anchor Wayne Garcia has retired from KPTV after more than 20 years at the Portland Fox affiliate.

Garcia joined the station as an anchor and reporter in 2002. Last year, he transitioned into a managerial role as director of news development.

He shared with The Oregonian that he told management, when he renewed his contract with KPTV two years ago, that it would be his last at the station.

“At 60, I feel like I still have a lot in the tank,” he told the paper.

Garcia just doesn’t know yet what he’ll be doing next.

Before moving to Portland, Garcia worked as an anchor and reporter at KPHO in Phoenix. He also worked as a reporter at KCAL in Los Angeles from 1993 to 2000.

Garcia recalls starting his broadcast career in radio, in his hometown of Porterville, California.
