WAPA expands live newscasts and entertainment to Roku with new streaming channel

April 25, 2024 by Veronica Villafañe

Puerto Rican broadcaster WAPA is expanding its reach via the launch of free ad supported television (FAST) channel WAPA+ on The Roku Channel.

The streaming channel, which debuted on Roku April 23, will showcase 70 hours of news, including live newscasts, and weekly entertainment programming.

Hemisphere Media Group, owner of the WAPA Media conglomerate, aims to target an estimated 5.8 million Puerto Ricans living on the U.S. mainland.

The WAPA+ news and analysis lineup features NotiCentro América, tailored for the Puerto Rican diaspora, programs like Ahí Está la Verdad led by journalist Normando Valentín and Temprano en la Mañana con Rubén Sánchez, and content from NotiCentro’s election news platform Decisión 2024.

WAPA+ has been available on TelevisaUnivision’s ViX since November 2023.
