TeleFutura debuts late-night show for men

October 31, 2011 by Veronica Villafañe

Gabriel Varela, Daniel Carles, (holding Socrates, the show's mascot) and Carlos Calderón.

Starting tonight, TeleFutura debuts “Noche de Perros,” a late-night show targeting men, billed by the network as “the best in testosterone-charged news and entertainment.”

Hosts Carlos Calderón, Gabriel Varela and Daniel Carles will be discussing “manly topics such as sports, news, hobbies and mainly women,” says a Telefutura press release.

Carlos Calderón, a Univision personality for 11 years, was most recently guest host for “El Gordo y la Flaca” and also hosted “Acceso Máximo.”  In addition to joining “Noche de Perros,” Carlos hosts “El Colmillo,” his own national entertainment show on Univision Radio. He’ll be taking the “Perro Sabio” (the wise dog) role in the show.

Gabriel Varela is an actor, producer and director, who has worked in theater and feature films.  He’s the “Perro Sensible” (the sensible dog).

Daniel Carles, a radio and TV industry vet, who has worked as a TV host for local Venezuelan stations RCTV and Televen, as well as the pan regional edition of E! Entertainment Television Latin America, is the “Perro Macho”  (the macho dog).

The TeleFutura production will air Monday-Friday at 11 p.m. ET/PT (10 p.m. Central).

And then we wonder why us Hispanics/Latinos are so poorly informed on civic matters. When will these executives learn to start making shows that actually offer some sort of learning instead of more nonsensical entertainment? I have an idea, how about a show on personal finance and the importance of understanding how mortgages, credit cards, debit cards and the like work? Oh, no that wouldn’t get eyeballs. Follow the money trail and stop promoting this nonsense.

As a man, i have no problem watching content exclusive for men.
Latino, go back and watch La Tijera.

You still didn’t address the problem. There are too many poorly informed “Spanish-speaking only” people out there. These types of
shows don’t do much for them. I don’t know what “La Tijera” is but I sure hope it cuts through the lack of quality information that
goes on in most Spanish TV outlets.
