Effective immediately, Nina García has been promoted to creative director of Marie Claire magazine. She has been fashion director since she was hired in 2008. The Colombian-born fashion critic, who has been a judge on Lifetime’s Project Runway since its premiere season, will continue to be on the show.
Nina is part of the magazine’s new creative team. Anne Fulenwider, named MC’s editor-in-chief two months ago, has also hired Alex González to be artistic director, responsible for the overall design, “look and feel” of the magazine. He starts the new job November 19.
Alex was most recently creative director of W magazine and has previously been creative director of GQ and Mirabella. He also re-launched German Vogue, Manner Vogue and L’Uomo Vogue. In addition to his new gig, he’ll remain as executive creative director of the media and branding advertising agency AR New York, which he co-founded with Vogue design director Raúl Martínez in 1996.
