Univision launches Uforia

April 23, 2013 by Veronica Villafañe

Univision Communications, Inc (UCI) today announced the launch of the Uforia music service as part of its new strategy to become “Hispanic America’s home of audio entertainment, regardless of language or platform.”

As part of this strategy, Univision will also launch an upgraded music app, under the name Uforia this summer.  The app will feature exclusive channels and customizable stations housing more than 20 million songs.

It will also offer a friend-sourcing service that will allow users to see what their connections are listening and make music recommendations.

Univision is becoming more involved in the music industry, partnering with music labels to exclusively premiere songs from up-and-coming artists.

The company has recently been promoting multiplatform debuts of singles from artists such Vicente Fernandez, Carlos Vives and Juan Luis Guerra.

This Friday, April 26, Univision Radio will exclusively debut the radio premiere of Marc Anthony’s new salsa single, “Vivir mi vida.”  The debut will be boosted by in-market strategic promotions across Univision’s social media properties as well as local and national digital extensions.

So i guess that means goodbye to iheartradio? Didn’t Univision just start using iheartradio to broadcast its stations in 2011?
