Former Univision Network anchor Edna Schmidt will return to television news after a 2-year absence. She has been hired by Telemundo’s WSNS in Chicago. Inside sources confirm she’s joining the station as an anchor. She has been seen this week on location taking promo pictures.
Edna has been off the air since Univision Network terminated her in September of 2011. At the time of her dismissal, she was reporting sporadically, after being taken off the weekend anchor desk during a talent shakeup at the network.
Before that, she had been weekend anchor of “Noticiero Univision” since 2005. Edna was previously news anchor for “Noticias Al Minuto” on TeleFutura and a correspondent and regular contributor for news magazine “Aquí y Ahora.”
Her move to Chicago marks her return to the Windy City. She spent 10 years in Chicago as anchor for Univision’s WGBO-66.
