Telemundo’s Pérez joins Azteca América

March 3, 2014 by Veronica Villafañe

Former Telemundo exec Enrique Pérez has been named EVP of Azteca América’s Station Group, effective immediately. He’ll be based in New York.

Azteca América announced his hiring today, as well as others, including Manuel Abud as President and CEO and Court Stroud as EVP of Network Sales.

Pérez quietly left Telemundo at the end of 2013.  At the time he departed the network he was SVP of Sales and Marketing of the Telemundo Station Group – a role he held for 11 years and is now duplicating in his current position at Azteca América.

Before working for the network, Pérez was  VP and GM of Telemundo’s WNJU-47 in New York.

From 1999 to 2002, he was SVP of Sales for the Radio Unica Network. He was previously VP and GM of MTV Latin America, controlling all channel functions, including ad sales, affiliate sales, marketing and promotions, programming and production.

His career includes posts as VP and GM at WVEA Channel 61 and WVEN Channel 63, both Univision affiliates in Tampa and Orlando. He also  managed Telemundo owned and operated stations in Chicago, San Jose and Houston.
