Univision’s Executive Chairman Haim Saban has talked to billionaire investor Carlos Slim Helú about the possibility of buying the Spanish-language network, according to a New York Post story.

Slim, one of the wealthiest men in the world, worth $68 billion, would have no trouble buying Univision in one fell swoop. But even though Saban approached Slim about the sale, a source told the Post the billionaire wasn’t interested.

Slim has several media holdings. In the U.S., he invested in the New York Times Company. In 2008, Slim bought 9.1 million shares of the NYT – an equivalent of 6.4% of the company, worth $127 million and added another 553,000 shares to his portfolio 3 years later.

Late last week, the Wall Street Journal reported Saban has been in talks to sell Univision for more than $20 billion.
