Alejandro Sanz hops on board Univision’s “La Banda”

Univision has revealed that multiple Latin Grammy & Grammy Alejandro Sanz is the third judge for its upcoming music-based reality entertainment competition “La Banda.”

He joins international pop stars Laura Pausini and Ricky Martin, who’s also executive producing the show, set to premiere September 2015.

The three pop stars and the “La Banda” team will focus on finding the ultimate Latino super group in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

The reality-competition, which has already started conducting casting sessions nationwide, is being developed by Univision, Simon Cowell’s SYCO Entertainment and Haim Saban’s Saban Brands. It’s co-produced with FremantleMedia Latin America.

Contestants will compete for their place in “La Banda” and for a recording contract with Sony Music Latin, along with Cowell’s SYCO Music, the recording label for boyband One Direction.

Univision personality Alejandra Espinoza will host “La Banda.” The show producers include Kelly Belldegrun and Nigel Hall, Executive Producers for SYCO Entertainment; Gert Verpeet, EP for FremantleMedia Latin America; Treicy Benavides, EP for FremantleMedia Latin America; and Cisco Suarez, EP for Univision Communications.
