Álvarez signs deal with Fox Deportes

September 17, 2015 by Veronica Villafañe

Carlos_Alvarez2014Los Angeles radio personality Carlos Álvarez is expanding his horizons. He signed a deal with Fox Deportes to be MLB play by play announcer for the season.

“This is a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to cover sports. Now that I’ll do it and be focusing on baseball, I know it would make my father, rest in peace, very proud.”

The Entravision DJ and entertainment correspondent starts the new gig this Saturday, September 19th.

Carlos has a daily radio show from 10 am to 3 pm on Entravision’s 107.1 Super Estrella in L.A., in addition to a syndicated weekly radio program.

No disrespect to Carlos, but this move to me appears to be a way to get him to promote mlb on fox deportes through his radio shows and not necessarily provide the best available play by play announcer. There’s plenty of young up and coming local sports anchors that could very easily take on this role. It’s the nature of the beast I suppose.

¡Exito Carlos!
