KTAZ Telemundo Phoenix has made three new hires. Valeria Aponte and Arlety Gonzalez join the news team as Multimedia Journalists and Juan González as the station’s weekend meteorologist.

Valeria and Arlety make their on-air debut next week. Juan’s first day on the air is October 8.

The station also announced that Paola Morales and Jimena Gonzalez will be the co-anchors for the new 4 pm newscast that will premiere next Monday, September 26.

Valeria arrives to Phoenix from Telemundo affiliate WZDC in Washington D.C., where she was a video journalist and producer for the past two years. She previously worked as a VJ at KGBT, the CBS affiliate in McAllen, Texas.

This is Arlety’s first job out of college. She previously interned as a VJ and reporter for Univision Dallas.

Juan joins Telemundo Phoenix after working as a Weather Anchor and meteorologist at Telecubanacan, a regional information center in Cuba for the past two years.

Paola and Jimena are recent additions to the Telemundo team. Paola came aboard as an MMJ in March of this year. Jimena was named anchor in June, after Rebekah Diaz was promoted to network correspondent.

The new afternoon newscast will also be simulcast on KHRR Telemundo Tucson.
