KXTX Telemundo Dallas is playing musical chairs with its talent for the upcoming launch of the station’s new half-hour weekday 4 pm newscast.

Starting September 26, longtime sportscaster Ramón Díaz will be moved to the news anchor desk with Teresa González, who leaves weekends to co-anchor the new half hour newscast Monday through Friday.

Carlos Zapata, who has been working as a video journalist for KXTX since 2013, takes over as weekend anchor.

Prior to joining Telemundo Dallas, Carlos worked as a news anchor and producer at WUVF Univision Fort Myers-Naples from 2012 to 2013 and WANA Azteca America in Fort Myers-Naples from 2005 to 2013.

Teresa, who has been anchoring weekends at since shortly after joining KXTX in 2014, was previously news and weather anchor at Univision affiliate KUNS in Seattle, where she worked since 2010.

An Emmy-award winning journalist, Ramon joined Telemundo Dallas 10 years ago. Until his new appointment, he worked as a sports director and anchor for the station’s weekday newscasts.
