Entravision names Covarrubias News Director at KINC; moves Henríquez to WVEN

October 5, 2016 by Veronica Villafañe

Angel Covarrubias, Sr. has rejoined Entravision. He is now News Director at KINC, the company’s Univision affiliate in Las Vegas.

He replaces Rafael Henríquez, who has been transferred to WVEN, where he has started a new job as Executive Producer and Assistant News Director in Orlando, less than a year since he was named to the KINC post.

Covarrubias, who started his new role last week, was most recently News Director and anchor at Telemundo Lubbock for the past two years. From 2012 to 2014, he was Executive Producer at Telemundo Phoenix and anchored a newscast for Telemundo Las Vegas from the Arizona station.

He previously worked 12 years for Entravision as the News Director and anchor at KORO in Corpus Christi. He’s the father of Angel Covarrubias, Jr., who currently works as as News Director and anchor for Entravision in McAllen.

Prior to KINC, Henriquez was News Director at KLUZ in Albuquerque. He was there for less than a year until Entravision eliminated local production of the station’s newscasts. Before that, he worked at the Univision affiliate in Denver. His past experience includes management roles at Univision Laredo and Estrella TV in Los Angeles.
