Luna cut from KABB; Ramos ousted from WOAI

Two Sinclair-owned stations in San Antonio have terminated two Latino anchors.

After 18 years at KABB, meteorologist Robert Luna no longer works at the Fox affiliate. He was told his position as backup weather anchor was eliminated.

Luna, who has filled in mornings, weeknights, weekends and covered holidays and vacations for just about every weather anchor, had worked at KABB since 1999.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, he was let go due to budget cuts.

Earlier this month, anchor Evy Ramos, from KABB sister station WOAI, also lost her job. She told the Express-News the station’s general manager informed her they were “exercising the termination clause” in her contract.

Ramos joined the station in 2014, replacing Elsa Ramon.

Sinclair Broadcasting has been trimming staff from several of its stations across the country.
