Univision wins big at NorCal Emmys; Telemundo scores overall news excellence

Univision Sacramento 2017 Emmys

Univision Sacramento celebrates winning 15 Emmys.

Univision stations in Sacramento and San Francisco took home a combined 28 Emmys and Telemundo picked up 7 awards, during the 46th Annual Northern California Area EMMY Awards ceremony held last Saturday evening, June 3rd in San Francisco.

The Spanish and English-language award categories are judged and scored separately and don’t compete against each other.

Out of the 52 Spanish-language categories, KUVS Univision 19 won 15, KDTV Univision 14 picked up 13. Among its 7 Emmys, KSTS Telemundo 48 tied with KDTV for overall news excellence and won best daytime newscast for its morning show, which is no longer on the air.

    They have to change the name of the competition to Northern California Spanish emmy award. Only 4 stations are in the competition
