Cerball quits reporter job at KHON to travel

July 28, 2017 by Veronica Villafañe

Alex Cerball

Today is Alex Cerball’s last day as a reporter in Hawaiian paradise. She didn’t renew her contract at Fox affiliate KHON2 News in Hawaii so she could take time to travel and spend time with family and friends in California.

“I spent two rewarding years reporting at the station and nearly three years in Hawaii, which was one of the best experiences of my life,” Cerball tells Media Moves.

“Leaving Hawaii was such a difficult decision to make, but earlier this year I won a National Parks pass on Instagram that is valid for a year. I want to spend time exploring my home state (CA) and National Parks across the country. I also have plans to visit Alaska. I hope to move back to Hawaii after my adventures, but for now I will continue to freelance write.”

In her blog, she shares a lengthier explanation of why she’s taking a travel break.

She leaves Oahu in mid-August.
