Univision, Telemundo win News and Documentary Emmys

The News and Documentary Emmy Awards were presented tonight in New York City and Univision and Telemundo were both winners.

Univision’s “Aquí y Ahora” picked up two of its three awards, winning Outstanding Newscast Or Newsmagazine In Spanish and Outstanding Coverage Of A Breaking News Story In Spanish for “La Recaptura de El Chapo.” It also won Outstanding Feature Story In Spanish for “La Amazonía: Un Paraíso A La Venta.”

Telemundo scored two awards. The network won an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism In Spanish for its documentary “Cosecha de Miseria” (Harvest of Misery), co-produced with The Weather Channel.

Local station KTLM Telemundo 40 was honored with a national News Emmy Award for Outstanding Regional News Story: Spot News for “Angeles del Desierto.”
