Welcome to new Media Moves

Media Moves debuts new logo and website

June 17, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

After months of intensive planning and hard work, I’m thrilled to unveil the refreshed version of the Media Moves logo and officially launch the new and improved redesigned mobile-responsive website.

As part of the revamp, there were several behind-the-scenes technical upgrades done to improve load speed and enhance user experience.

Media Moves now has a cleaner look and will be easier to navigate, especially if you’re checking out the latest industry news and moves on your phone.

Although the new site is now live, I will continue to work closely with the web developer to add more features and other enhancements in the coming months.

There are also plans to expand coverage, so this is still a work in progress.

Push notifications

Almost three years ago, Media Moves added the push notification feature. Readers were able to opt in to receive instant alerts of new stories published on the site.

The provider we used had a technical glitch that caused the automatic deletion of hundreds of subscribers from the service. Other readers never got the pop-up notification allowing them to subscribe.

As part of the overall website revamp, Media Moves is switching providers. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer current subscribers to the new service.

Therefore, all readers interested in receiving alerts on their desktops or mobile devices, including those previously subscribed, must opt in to the new push notification service.

Special thanks to Media Moves crowdfund supporters

Media Moves started a crowdfunding campaign last year with the goal to help fund the redesign and long overdue technical upgrades to the site. Thanks to an initial round of support, the new and improved Media Moves is now live. But a lot more still needs to be done.

I want to thank each and every one of you who participated in the crowdfunding campaign. Special thanks to Eduardo Zavala and ZGS, who believed in the work of Media Moves and supported the fundraising effort with a very generous contribution that really helped me move forward with the redesign process.

To the thousands of followers of Media Moves, who have regularly turned to the site to read about the industry, your colleagues and even to promote your own moves throughout the years, I ask that you take a moment to financially support the Media Moves mission by making a contribution to the on-going crowdfunding campaign.

A lot of work goes into producing the content and maintaining the site. As more Latinos join the media ranks and media companies downsize and expand, the number of stories to report has increased dramatically. This is something I can no longer do on my own, as I have for the past 11 years. So, I need to hire freelance help to expand and do more comprehensive coverage.

Your financial support, no matter the amount, will help Media Moves continue its mission of covering and highlighting the work of Latinos in the media industry.

Thank you for being loyal readers. I hope you like the new look!
