Belen Gomez-Jordana

Gómez-Jordana hired as MMJ for launch of Telemundo Noticias Charlotte

July 3, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Belén Gómez-Jordana has left Univision 40 in Raleigh to become part of the founding news team of Cox’s Telemundo Noticias Charlotte.

An MMJ at Noticias 40 for the past three years, Gómez-Jordana will also report and shoot her own stories for Charlotte’s first Spanish-language newscast.

Prior to joining the Univision O&O in Raleigh, she was a reporter, anchor and producer for Univision Arkansas (an affiliate) from 2010 to 2015.

Before moving to the U.S. from her native Spain, she worked six years as a reporter for regional TV stations and EFE.

Gómez-Jordana starts the new job next week.

L to R: Daniel Viotto, Eloy Tupayachi, Alex Pineiro.

Telemundo Noticias Charlotte debuted yesterday, July 2 with a small team: Daniel Viotto, anchor and managing editor; Eloy Tupayachi, producer; Alex Piñeiro, Director.

Mike Oliveira, news director for ABC affiliate WSOC-TV Channel 9, will also be ND for Noticias Charlotte.

The Telemundo team is based in the WSOC newsroom, and according to Oliveira, will have access to the station’s resources.

Oliveira says he will be hiring another MMJ for the Telemundo news team.
