Sandra O'Neill

O’Neill tapped for weekend anchor spot at KVEA

July 27, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Sandra O’Neill has left KMEX Univision 34, where she had been a reporter since 2013.

She moves across town to competitor KVEA Telemundo 52, where she has accepted a job as weekend anchor and reporter. She joins KVEA today, but will do her on-air debut in August.

O’Neill steps into the role vacated by Alejandra Ortiz, who moved to weekday mornings in April, when Nancy Leal returned to Dallas to anchor weekday afternoon newscasts.

The station has been rotating anchors for the past four months.

O’Neill will anchor the 6 and 11 pm newscasts and report three days a week.

Prior to KMEX, O’Neill worked at Univision 41 New York as a reporter and anchor for the station’s morning newscast since 2008. She previously worked as a reporter and anchor at KRCA-62, the Estrella TV station in Los Angeles.
