Martin Berlanga

Telemundo Houston anchor Martín Berlanga resigns

August 7, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Martín Berlanga has decided to leave the anchor desk at Telemundo Houston. He has resigned from the position he has held for the past six years.

“I’m really grateful to Telemundo Houston for the opportunity to work here. I’ve been lived through one of the best times in KTMD’s history and I wish all my colleagues the best,” Berlanga tells Media Moves. “But I felt it was time to start a new chapter in my life, spend more time with my sons and explore new professional challenges.”

He would not say at this point what those professional challenges are or where they’ll take him.

He did say that moving back to Houston was “the best decision” he made.

Berlanga also shared a message with fans on social media about his departure from the station, his time in Texas, and how it has a special place in his life – where he built his career and his children were born.

Houston is where he started his U.S. broadcast career in 1995. He interned at KTMD Telemundo Houston, before moving to the local Univision station and eventually, to the network as a national correspondent.

Berlanga returned to Telemundo Houston as anchor in October 2012.

His last day on the air is August 31, 2018.
