Marialcy Carreno

Carreño named news director at Telemundo Las Vegas

September 25, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Marialcy Carreño has been promoted to news director of Telemundo’s troubled station in Las Vegas.

Carreño has been assistant news director at KXTX Telemundo Dallas since September 2017.

Her last day in Dallas is October 5 and she starts in Las Vegas October 15.

She is replacing Xochitl Sandoval, who along with her executive producer Javier Palmera, were ousted on August 24.

Carreño will be tasked with bringing stability to a station that has seen an exodus of staffers who claim the previous leadership created a hostile working environment.

Carreño joined Telemundo in February of 2014, as EP at KSTS 48 San Jose. She previously spent four years as a news producer at Univision Fresno.

Before that, she worked as a general producer for RCTV International in her native Venezuela.
