Telemundo Studios shakes up its management ranks

Telemundo Global Studios (TGS) has made some changes to its leadership structure to “further advance its competitive edge in producing high-quality premium content.”

The changes include the following appointments and promotions:

Fabrizio Alcobe is transitioning from his role as SVP of Human Resources to the newly created position of SVP, Talent. He’ll be responsible for leading talent management, development and casting.

Fernando Gastón moves from his role as VP of Production for cable net Universo to VP of Productions and Development, Pilots, where he’ll oversee the production of the TGS’s pilots for long scripted formats.

Alejandra Serna is promoted from VP of Production Management Services to SVP of Production Management and Operations, responsible for overseeing production management, compliance, operational excellence and efficiency within TGS productions.

Luis Zelkovich is promoted to Sr. Supervisor of 10 pm productions.

Sergio Mendoza is promoted to Sr. Director of Scripted Development for 8 and 9 pm.

Two freelance producers that had been working on projects for Telemundo are being brought in as staffers:

Jorge Giraldo joins as producer with oversight of productions in Colombia, reporting to TGS President Marcos Santana.

Marcel Ferrer joins as producer with oversight of productions in Mexico, reporting to Mariana Iskandarani, VP, Production.

As part of the management changes, Ricardo Coeto, EVP of Production, is leaving the company, but will remain as a creative advisor for scripted projects to help through a transition period.

The rest of the executive team will stay the same, including Perla Farías, Head Writer; Miguel Varoni, VP and Creative director; Ignacio Barrera, SVP Sales and Business Development, TGS; and Juan Marco Blanco, VP of Development, TGS, who will continue to be responsible for development with a focus on building TGS’s 10 pm Super Series.

The leadership team, based at the Telemundo Center in Miami, will report to Santana.
