Loris leaves Univision for Telemundo SVP role; Telemundo promotes García, Valdez, Herrera

May 30, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe

After 30 years at Univision, Patsy Loris is leaving the network to join rival Telemundo.

Effective July 29, Loris will take over the newly created role of SVP of Elections 2020 and Special Projects, reporting to EVP of Network News Luis Fernández.

She’ll be responsible for leading Noticias Telemundo’s presidential elections coverage and overseeing the production of news specials.

Loris, who currently oversees all Univision news programming efforts as EVP of News and Executive News Director, has been with the company since 1988 starting out at Miami WLTV-Channel 23.

The move marks her return to Telemundo, where she started her career at local station WSCV-Channel 51 in Miami.

News promotions

Telemundo also internally announced three promotions effective today:

  • Gemma García is upped from executive producer to VP of Network and Digital News, expanding her responsibilities to assume the functions of the digital department of Telemundo News. She joined Telemundo in 2016.
  • Elizabeth Valdés is elevated to VP of News Gathering, leading assignment desk, bureaus and correspondents. She’ll continue to report to García. She returned to Telemundo in 2012 after working at Univision.
  • Leticia Herrera moves up to VP of Specials, reporting directly to Loris. Formerly EP of Noticiero Telemundo, she was named EP for “Enfoque,” the network’s weekly political show, in 2016.

Por favor sra. Loris, no convierta aquello en lo que dejó aqui atrás. Y no mire atrás.
