Telemundo 48 adds Yustis as sports anchor

August 12, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe

Telemundo 48 is adding sports anchor Carlos Yustis to its news team.

Yustis is leaving his weekday sports anchor job at Telemundo 40 in McAllen, TX to take on the new role at the San Jose-based station.

His last day at Telemundo 40 is August 21. He starts at Telemundo 48 on September 3.

Yustis replaces Raúl Striker, who left the station in early July.

He will be working Sunday through Thursday, sharing sports coverage responsibilities with anchor Carlos Ramírez, whose schedule is currently Tuesday through Saturday.

Prior to joining Telemundo 40 in 2017, Yustis was an associate producer for Telemundo Network from 2010 to 2016, where he covered the London Olympics in 2012 and the 2016 Olympic Games from Rio de Janiero as reporter and sociaI media content creator.

He was also a play by play analyst for FIFA U-17, U20, Women’s and Beach Soccer World Cups in 2015, as well as the Futsal World Cup and CONCACAF qualifiers in 2016 for TelemundoDeportes.com.

He previously spent a year as an associate producer for Univision network and participated in the FIFA World Cup South Africa coverage as a sports producer for Telefutura.

Yustis was a semi-professional player for Mexico’s U-15 National Soccer Team and for Club Deportivo Cruz Azul in Mexico City.
