Rigo Villalobos

Villalobos named anchor at Telemundo San Diego

August 23, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe

Telemundo 20 San Diego has promoted Rigo Villalobos to weekday anchor.

He’ll be anchoring the station’s 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 11:00 pm newscasts and will also continue to do occasional reporting.

Villalobos has been replacing Guadalupe Venegas on the anchor desk since his departure on June 1, but the station made his job change official this week.

Venegas was promoted to Telemundo network correspondent, based in San Francisco.

Villalobos joined Telemundo 20 in 2017 as part of the station’s newscast launch team.

He previously spent two years as a video journalist for KVDA Telemundo 60 San Antonio. Before that, he worked as a reporter at KINC-15 Univision in Las Vegas. He began his broadcast career in 2010 as a field producer and reporter at KRCA 62 in Los Angeles.
