Longtime anchor Blanca Garza leaves Telemundo 48

November 28, 2019 by Veronica Villafañe

After nearly two decades, anchor Blanca Garza has left KSTS Telemundo 48.

Garza married earlier this year and tells Media Moves she decided not to renew her contract at the Bay Area station to spend quality time with her musician husband. She says they also wanted to have the freedom to move, in case they want to return to Los Angeles.

“Los Angeles is where a big part of the music industry is. It’s also where my family lives,” she states. “I’m going to take a 3 to 4 month break to travel with him, accompanying him on his tours. Then I would like to get back to work, but I really don’t know where I would do that yet.”

Garza joined Telemundo 48 in January 2001.

“I will always be grateful to Telemundo 48 for giving me the opportunity to serve the Hispanic community of the Bay Area for almost two decades and for giving me a platform where I built a very special connection with our audience. That will be hard to forget.”

Before her move to the Bay Area, Garza was an entertainment reporter at KMEX Univision 34 in Los Angeles and a freelance correspondent for Televisa.

Yeah that’s big she been thru 2 Renaissance era for the station when she joined the station she was hired for the launch of there first morning and midday show after that failed she got the evenings there was a brief time when the newscast was TPC produced newscast and then in 2010 along with Cesar they were back at it for the revival. Then 2014 came Renaissance II morning news would come back along with mid-morning news It would later get canned ironically, in dejà vu in favor of weekend newscast again ironically rumor had it she was gonna switch to morning anyways there now on the weekends and quite I’m not surprised she had been starting to fade away a little bit after she got married to an African-American musican. But it still sad because it means a change in era for the station
