Eddie Cancela returns to SBS

July 10, 2020 by Veronica Villafañe

Eddie Cancela is back at SBS. He has rejoined the company as VP of New Business Development.

In his new role he’ll be in charge of opening new and existing opportunities for SBS by creating and implementing strategies for attracting and retaining new customers though SBS different platforms which include Radio, Television, Digital and Live Events.

The move marks his return to SBS after 20 years.

“I am overwhelmed with pride and joy to be back at SBS, some of my fondest memories and accomplishments in my life were while working as GM at KLAX in LA,” Cancela tells Media Moves. “I want to thank Raúl Alarcón and Albert Rodríguez for this opportunity. It’s like the Argentine singer Gardel said: “20 años no son nada.” I am home.”

Cancela had been out of the media circuit since his exit from Azteca América’s Miami station in 2014.

He spent 4 years as EVP of New Business Development for Spanish Broadcasting Systems in Los Angeles and was GM and GSM of KLAX 97.9 FM in L.A. from 1996 to 1999.

Cancela was previously local sales manager at KVEA-52 in Los Angeles from 1993 -1996.
