Telemundo 52 hires Carmen Márquez as weekend anchor

June 24, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

KVEA Telemundo 52 Los Angeles has hired Carmen Márquez to anchor the station’s weekend 6 and 11 pm newscasts.

Her on-air debut is scheduled for late June.

She steps into the position left vacant in April when Sandra O’Neill moved to weekday morning newscasts amid an anchor reorganization.

Prior to Telemundo 52, Márquez was an on-air contributor during Telemundo Network’s 2020 presidential election coverage.

She began her journalism career at Radio Campesina Network in Phoenix, where she hosted a talk show aimed at educating and informing the Latino community in the region.

Márquez was previously an anchor and producer who helped launch the first-ever Spanish-language newscast for the Telemundo affiliate in Yuma, AZ.
